Frequently Asked Questions
What devices does Cyrace work with?
Cyrace works with any Bluetooth FTMS-compatible smart trainer (such as Wahoo Kickr, Tacx Neo, or Elite Direto) and optionally a Zwift Ride controller for physical button controls. A standard BLE heart rate monitor is also supported.
What iOS version is required?
Cyrace requires iOS 26 or later, running on an iPhone or iPad.
Does Cyrace require an internet connection?
No. Cyrace operates entirely offline. It communicates with your trainer and controller via Bluetooth only. No internet connection is needed, and no data leaves your device.
How do I load a GPX route?
Switch to Simulation mode, then use the route loading option to import a GPX file from your device. Cyrace will parse the route, calculate the elevation profile, and simulate the real-world gradients on your trainer as you ride.
What is the difference between ERG and Simulation mode?
ERG mode holds a fixed power target regardless of your cadence — great for structured workouts. Simulation mode uses gradient-based resistance with a virtual gearing system, simulating the feel of riding a real course loaded from a GPX file.
Does Cyrace collect any personal data?
No. Cyrace collects no personal data, has no user accounts, no analytics, and no network access. Everything stays on your device. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Troubleshooting
My trainer isn't connecting
Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone and that your trainer is powered on and not connected to another app (such as Zwift or Wahoo). Cyrace will automatically scan for nearby FTMS trainers. If the trainer still doesn't appear, try power-cycling the trainer and restarting the app.
Zwift Ride buttons aren't responding
Ensure your Zwift Ride controller is paired in Cyrace (not in iOS Bluetooth settings). If the controller disconnects unexpectedly, you may need to restart the controller. The app performs a "RideOn" handshake on connection — if this fails, disconnect and reconnect.
Resistance doesn't change in Simulation mode
Verify that a GPX route is loaded and that your trainer supports FTMS simulation commands. Some trainers require a firmware update for full FTMS support. Also check that you are pedalling — the simulation requires cadence input to calculate virtual speed and advance along the route.
